1. Spare the rod, and spoil the child.
Almost every believer and sinner has heard this, and believes that this is Scripture. You will not find this anywhere in the Bible. This is something man has added to God's word.
I know that some of you are saying, "I know that quote is in the Bible!" Well, I assure you it is not, but go ahead and try to find it. I do not have to worry about ever getting that letter from you, because the word of God does not contain this saying.
2. If you are not having any problems, you must be doing something wrong.
This is one of many beliefs that exalts circumstances and the devil over faith in God. The word of God says:
Psalms 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The word also says, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper..." (3 John 2). The word says that God delights in the prosperity of His servants, and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Psalms 35:27, Hebrews 11:6).
God wants us to prosper at all times. Scripture does not support such an ignorant statement as, "If you are not having any problems, you must be doing something wrong."
Many times it would be more accurate to say that, "If you are having problems, then you must be doing something wrong." This is because through sin and rebellion people bring much upon themselves. That is not to say that you will not have any problems, but it is to say that problems do not indicate that a person is serving God. True believers will suffer for the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ, but still one cannot say that suffering in and of itself shows whether one is or is not doing what is right.
3. God can call you home anytime.
This is another doctrine that people just accept without thinking about it, and with not one Scripture to back it up. God can do whatever He wants, but praise God, He wants us to have long life. The word says,
Psalms 91:16
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Ephesians 6:1-3
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Deuteronomy 25:15
15 But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
Deuteronomy 6:2
2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
These Scriptures show us that God wants us to have long life. Some will say, "Well, God knows the length of our days." That is true, but it still does not mean that He will just take you out whenever.
Job 14:1-6
1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.
3 And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?
4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.
5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
6 Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.
This is the most oft quoted verse attempting to prove the idea that man has some set number of days on the earth that they cannot change. Now, it may prove that there is a basic determination for a person's life, but it does not prove that this cannot be changed. The Scriptures clearly show men can extend the number of years they live and they can also shorten them. The Scripture says:
Proverbs 10:27
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Psalms 55:23
23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
How can days be prolonged if we only have a predetermined number of days on the earth? How can the years of the wicked be shortened if their lifetimes were a predetermined number of years that could not be changed? How could all the Scriptures below promise long life, if everyone has different predetermined lifetimes allotted to them?
I would also add that in the prayer of Hezekiah we see that a life can be extended due to the mercy of God.
2 Kings 20:1-7
1 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
3 I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
7 And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
The majority of believers who die young, die young because they let the devil defeat them. Death is the enemy of God and man and will be destroyed (1 Corinthians 15:24-26; Revelation 20:13-14; 21:4).
4. We are not guaranteed tomorrow.
This false doctrine is rebuked in the Scriptures mentioned in false doctrine #3. We are guaranteed long life, because God's word declares it! If those Scriptures are not enough to convince you, then you probably need a religious devil cast out of you! God has promised us through His word that we can have long life, that would guarantee us tomorrow!
5. God is an Angry God.
Who knows how many Christians have backslide and died and went to hell because they heard some devil inspired preacher say, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Angry God." It is one thing to blast apostates and sinners, for "God is angry with the wicked every day" (Psalms 7:11), yet, when people twist this anger at the wicked and start acting like God is angry with the righteous then this is a perversion of Scripture. The word of God actually says,
Hebrews 10:31
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
God is not angry with the righteous. He sent His Son Jesus to die for us. God welcomes all who come to Him in full repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus and His shed blood.
6. It's not gossip unless you are trying to hurt someone.
This is nothing more than an excuse to run off at the mouth about anybody and everybody. The devil is the author of gossip. He has weakened the church through talebearing, backbiting gossips. Actually most people gossipping ARE trying to hurt someone, but false brethren will sometimes do it by saying things like, "We need to pray for Mr. Smith because...." and then they will start gossipping. This way they pretend they want to pray for someone, but in actuality they are simply covering up gossip through false righteousness. This is not to say that we cannot share certain details so that people can pray, but we had better be sure we have no other intentions then helping and blessing that person (or rebuking them before all).
Proverbs 11:13
13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.
Proverbs 20:19
19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.
Someone goes around trying to find out what happened at the church down the street, who repented, and what problems the brethren are facing, is a talebearer. It is none of your business what is going on at the church down the street, and it is surely none of your business what problems a brother or sister may be struggling with. If they wanted you to know they would tell you!
The most common excuse for gossiping is, "Well, you have to find out what to pray for." Get real! If that were the case, then why do not you go ask the person you are gossiping about if they need prayer? Do not make excuses for the sin of gossip. Repent of it, and mind your own business. Otherwise you are probably going to start getting a lot of people very angry at you and have angry countenances facing you (Proverbs 25:23).
7. God is never early, and never late.
This saying was started to take faith away from believers. Jesus made it easy for us to have God's promises manifest when we pray.
Mark 11:24
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
God's word also says, "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear" (Isaiah 65:24). This Scripture is dealing directly with the millennial reign of Christ, and indirectly with all born-again believers now! God is "early" when you pray in faith!
Remember in Daniel's prayer, he was granted the answer the first day (Daniel 10:11-13). It was not God's plan for that answer to take twenty-one days to get to Daniel, because He answered right when Daniel prayed. Do not blame God because the answer takes a while to get to you. Maybe you should pray in faith and see your prayer answered "early", compared to the doubter's "just right on time" answer.
8. You can be so heavenly-minded that you are no earthly good.
This concept was developed by weak, feeble, and lifeless theologians and "scholars." If these people had opened their Bibles and studied a little bit, they would have never came up with this conclusion.
Jesus was the most "Heavenly-minded" person to ever walk this earth. He showed us that you can have a deep fellowship and communion with the Father, and still be a great benefit to this world.
Actually, the more heavenly-minded you are, the more earthly good you will be, because in heaven the attitude of a servant of God prevails. Thus, being heavenly-minded would make us more earthly good than any carnal, backslidden, powerless, faithless, and doubting pretend believer.
9. Noah spent 120 years building the ark.
This false doctrine is used to build false doctrine #10. How long does the Bible say that Noah spent building the ark?
Genesis 6:10
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Genesis 6:18
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
Genesis 11:10
10 These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood
Most of you are probably wondering what these verses have to do with the time Noah took to build the ark. These verses prove without a doubt that Noah could not have spent 120 years building the ark.
The fact that Noah had sons, and then the Lord told him to build an ark and put his sons and their wives on the ark, shows us that the sons were already grown and married before Noah started building the ark.
The fact that Shem was a hundred years old after the flood proves that Noah could not have spent 120 years building the ark. Noah's sons were already grown and married. This would place their approximate age at about 20 to 30 years.
If Shem was 100 years old two years after the flood, then we could guess that it took Noah anywhere from 70 to 80 years to build the ark. There are no Scriptures telling us exactly how long it took to build the ark, but we can rule out any time period from about 80 years and up.
10. God did not speak to Noah for the 120 years he was building the ark.
This doctrine is used by the devil to lead people to believe that God may tell you to do something and then just leave you there to do it yourself. This doctrine is generally used as "proof" that God does not always speak to us, and sometimes He will even not speak to us for long periods of time.
This doctrine is based on no scriptural evidence. Rather it is based on the faithless belief that the age of miracles has passed. Nowhere does the Genesis account of Noah and the ark say that God spoke to Noah once and then left him for 120 years.
The Genesis account shows that Noah walked with God (Genesis 6:9). You do not walk with someone who does not talk to you for 120 years. That does not make any sense because it is a false doctrine based on a faulty understanding of how long it took Noah to build the ark and true servants of God's relationship with the Lord.
11. No one on Earth understood what Noah was talking about when he mentioned rain and the flood, because it had never rained before.
This false doctrine is "proved" by Genesis 2:5-6.
Genesis 2:4-7
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
All these verses are saying is that there was no rain before Adam and the plants were created, because there was no need for rain when there are no plants and no one to care for the plants. Also, notice the plain context. These verses were talking about the state of things during the restoration or making of the earth and the heavens. If you are going to say that there was no rain until Noah's flood and use Genesis 2:5 to "prove" it then you must also teach that there is no man.
Other Scriptures disproving this unique theory are Job 38:4-9, 25-30, Psalms 135:7, 147:8, Jeremiah 10:12-13. The clouds were created to rain on the Earth and cause the plants to grow. Obviously all of the plants in the garden of Eden and on Earth would have been dead without rain, and this mist watered the face of the ground. It says absolutely nothing about watering plants, because this occurred BEFORE the plants were even there!
12. The disciples were saved on the day of Pentecost.
This false doctrine is pushed by people who do not want to believe in the baptism of Power, the baptism in the Holy Spirit. To say that the disciples were saved on the day of Pentecost would mean that it took the disciples fifty days to believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead.
The disciples fellowshipped with Jesus for forty days after His resurrection (Acts 1:3). They then waited ten more days in the upper room to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. If receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit meant being born-again, then why did Jesus tell them that they would receive power from the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and not salvation (Acts 1:8)?
That is because the disciples were already born-again and had eternal life (Luke 10:20; John 17:1-6). Only Judas lost eternal life (John 17:12), as did Peter when he denied the Lord (Matthew 26:34, 69-75; Mark 14:30-31, 66-72; 2 Timothy 2:11-12), but the Lord prophesied that he would be reconverted (Luke 22:32).
13. Money is the root of all evil.
Nowhere does the Bible say this. This is false and is another doctrine of devils. The Word says that, "For the love of money is the root of all evil..." (1 Timothy 6:10).
It is the love of money that is evil, not money itself. Money can be a great thing when used for God's purposes (Deuteronomy 8:18). We are not to put our faith in riches, rather we are to put our faith in the Lord who richly gives us all things! "Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life" (1 Timothy 6:17-19).
14. God wants you to be poor, because it keeps you humble.
This kind of logic puts the devil on the prospering side, and God on the taking away side. Once again religion has taught a doctrine that exalts their god, the devil.
God delights in the prosperity of His servant (Psalms 35:27). Jesus said that, "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).
God is the Giver, while the devil and his people are the robbers. Do not blame God for you financial struggles when it is the devil stealing from you or you lacking discipline in spending.
15. Well, God allows it.
God has given us authority over the enemy. When you allow the enemy to defeat you, it is your fault, not God's. He has already given you the authority to defeat the devil every time. You must enforce that authority.
God is not the one allowing your problems, it is you! You must keep the devil under your feet. Do not blame God for what you allow. This is a lame excuse by people who refuse to do certain things that are required to live a quiet and peaceable life. They would rather blame God and remain lazy than live right and be obedient to the Lord and His word.
16. Nothing happens unless God allows it.
This false teaching is similar to #15, but it encompasses every single thing that happens to anyone anywhere. When you say this you are saying that God condones sickness, abortion, murder, rape, abuse, all manner of sin, all manner of troubles, etc. God does not allow any of these things, the church is allowing them.
2 Timothy 2:26
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Who is going to recover the people from the devil's snare? Is it God? No! It is the individual who is ensnared.
They allowed the devil to take them captive, and they must get themselves out. You must make a decision to be defeated, or to defeat! God is not going to do everything for you, because that will make you into a puppet. You must stand on the word of God in faith, and decree the end result (Job 22:28)!
16. God is in control of everything.
If this were true then everyone would be saved, because God is, "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
The truth is that God uses the church as His representatives on the Earth. The devil is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). The Lord rules heaven; that's why there is no sickness, death, lack, or want there. God is not running this world. Sin and the devil are running this world. When the Lord moves His capital city, the New Jerusalem, from Heaven to Earth and takes up abode here among His people then the Earth will be controlled by the Lord and a perfect existence will reign (Revelation 21-22).
17. God created the devil.
The devil loves for everyone to believe this false doctrine, because it makes God look evil. This doctrine, along with false doctrines #16 and 18, are straight out of the New Age. The New Age believes that God created both good and evil.
Ezekiel 28:12-15
12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
The devil was created as Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12). He was a beautiful, anointed cherub that covereth (Ezekiel 28:14,17). He was not created the devil or Satan. That is what he became when iniquity was found in his heart. God created him perfect, but through sin he became the adversary, or the devil.
18. God controls the devil.
To say that God controls the devil is to say that God and the devil are on the same team. All throughout the Bible we see the devil as the enemy who works against the will and plan of God in order to try to stop it. Jesus said,
Matthew 12:25-26
25 ...Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
If God controls the devil, then both God's and the devil's kingdoms are divided. We know that God's kingdom is not divided against itself. It would have to be for God to control His own enemy.
Then that would mean that God is making the devil fight and attack His children. If this were true, then God's kingdom would be divided and it could not stand!
19. God uses the devil to accomplish His will and needs him.
If this were so, then God is reduced to needing to use the devil. God does not use the devil to accomplish His will. He already accomplished His will through His Son. He does not need the devil to accomplish His will.
If someone said, "I didn't kill the person, I just paid someone to do it for me!", they would go to jail! Why do theologians accuse God of the same thing. God is not the devil's accomplice, so stop lying on God!
God will accomplish His will through His word. He also uses His Church to complete His will on Earth, otherwise He has no use for the devil, because the devil's actions go against God's Will. Just because God may take something the devil did and work it into his favor does not mean that the devil is needed.
20. God can do anything He wants.
This is one of the lies of the church that have made God into the good/evil force. Nobody ever questions this lie, because they are afraid of making God less Sovereign.
God's Sovereignty has nothing to do with His righteousness. It is just as wrong for God to do evil against us as it is for us to do evil to another person. If God did evil against mankind, then He would not have commanded us to:
1) Do good to those who hate you (Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:27).
2) Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31).
3) Do violence to no man (Luke 3:14).
4) Do good (Romans 13:3; Luke 6:35).
God would be unjust if He commanded us to do things that He would not do Himself. Actually God is Holy and righteous and does good to all men. He will never do anything that goes against His word. He will do what He pleases, and we see His will in His word. This does not mean that God will not equally fulfill His word and execute wrath on those that sin against Him, for He keeps His word to bless the obedient and curse the disobedient.
If God could do anything He wants, then He could lie (Number 23:19), cause death (1 Corinthians 15:26), and inflict sickness (Acts 10:38). All of these things are contrary to God's word, yet men still preach that God is Sovereign by compromising on His righteousness and honesty.
21. God is Sovereign, so whatever happens must be His will.
This is totally ignorant, and once again God is linked with the New Age concept of God. That is to say that God is a good/evil force.
It is not God's will for anyone to be sick, diseased, poor, or spiritually dead. People that say this are totally ruling out the devil, and putting God in his place. This doctrine borders on blasphemy, because it compromises God's goodness, and basically links Him and the devil together. (See Words of Healing for Scriptures on Healing.)
22. God works in mysterious ways.
Mysterious activity implies magic and witchcraft. God has revealed His workings to us. There is nothing mysterious about God and how He works to those who study the word.
1 Corinthians 2:12
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given us of God.
1 John 2:2727 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
The only time there would be any mystery about God's ways is if you are trying to link God with both healing and sickness, blessing and cursing, life and death, and good and evil. If you know God's word and His goodness there need not be any mystery about how God works.
23. God will do it all.
I remember a woman I was talking to about the Godhead. She was involved in the Oneness heresy. While reading the word to her she said, "I am just going to have to let God give me a revelation about this."
What she was really saying is that she did not accept God's word as the truth and she did not want to know the truth. I told her, "You do not have to wait for God to give you a revelation because He already has. That revelation is His word."
People like her believe that God will do it all. They believe this because they are too lazy to study the word themselves. They want God to do everything and them to do nothing. This doctrine is based on nothing more than laziness. Believers are to "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15).
24. God does not need your help.
This doctrine is similar to #23, because it is also based and taught by lazy people. If this doctrine were true then why would God need man to preach the gospel?
Matthew 9:37-38
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
If the harvest is the Lord's, then why does He not do the laboring? The answer is that we are His instruments on Earth. The fact that the laborers are few, shows that too many people are too lazy to labor for the kingdom.
Another thing is that God will not save anyone by Himself, it requires a human to chose of their own free will to be saved. He has to have laborers minister His gospel to the lost. If He did not need our help, then why does He not just save everybody and take us to be with Him for all eternity? Obviously God does need our help to get the gospel out, but He does not leave us laboring in our own power (Acts 1:8)! This is not to say that if God wanted to do things differently, had He chosen a different plan, that He could not just save people and have no need for us, but He chose to give us a part in the preaching of the gospel and even put some people over the eternal destinies of certain individuals (Ezekiel 3:17-21).
25. The Godhead is a mystery.
This has been an excuse used by "Bible teachers" for years to make up for their lack of study in God's word. It is a lie. No where does God tell us we cannot understand Him or His Godhead. Theologians have made God into a mystery, when God has made His Godhead easy to understand. Some theologians act like God said His Godhead was confusing. Actually God's word tells us the exact opposite.
Romans 1:20
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.
Deuteronomy 29:29
29 The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
These two verses show us without a doubt that the Godhead is clearly seen, and that He reveals the secret things unto us. The only reason someone would not understand the Godhead is because they have not studied to see what God's word says about God or they are willfully ignorant.
I have personally collected over 1,300 Scriptures proving more than one person in the Godhead, and find it utterly foolish for one to claim that the Godhead is a mystery in the light of such evidence.
26. Holiness is not attainable.
This doctrine is pushed by sinful, carnal "Christians." No, you cannot ever live good enough to earn salvation, it is the free gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). The truth is that God has called us to live a holy life.
Hebrews 12:14
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord
Biblical holiness is being set apart unto God. It is being apart from the world, and from the world's form of life. That form of life is secular T.V., entertainment, movies, schools, financial strategies, lust, etc.
Believers need to live a life of holiness and sanctification. We are not to partake of the worldly things. We must be living to God's glory.
1 Thessalonians 4:7
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
2 Corinthians 6:17
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you.
We are called to holiness or separation from the world and its desires. This is not to say that we cannot minister and witness to sinners, but we cannot partake of their sins.
1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Do not let the devil fool you into thinking that if a T.V. show is "clean" and doesn't cuss or have that much nudity, that it is not wrong. That is a lie from the wicked onel! We are to be separate from the world!
Who knows how many "Christians" have become devilized by watching "clean," New Age shows. Devils are waiting to oppress those who are ignorant enough to partake of their forms of entertainment. The church needs to live a set apart life, pure and undefiled before God. All it takes to live holy is dedication and true love for God. Remember the words of Jesus:
John 14:15
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
If you are born-again, you should want to live a holy, set-apart life before both God and man!
27. You can overdo Faith.
The only kind of person that would teach this is a person who walks by sight, doubt, and unbelief. The devil does not worry about these people because they are weak and faithless.
You cannot overdo faith. Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."
If our faith pleases God, then people who tell you not to overdo faith, are telling you not to please God. You cannot ever overdo faith. That would be like saying that you can please God too much.
We need to please God through our faith. Do not let someone lie to you by telling you, "You need to stay away from that faith stuff." What you really need to stay away from is that doubt stuff! Please God by walking by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
28. The sons of God mentioned in Genesis 6:1-4 are the godly line of Seth and not angels.
This has been taught for a long time with no Scriptural basis for the belief. The Scriptures in reference read:
Genesis 6:1-4
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them.
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came into the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
The first thing we must notice is the beings that married the women were called the sons of God, not the sons of Seth. Also the very fact that they were "of God" and not "of men" like the women are specifically said to be "of men" implies that they were not men.
The fact is that every time the terming "sons of God" is mentioned it is talking about angels (see Job 1:6, 2:1, 38:7, Daniel 3:25-28).
The main argument used against the "sons of God" being angels is not Scriptural, rather it is based on a lack of understanding of the spirit world. The fact that the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men causes people to question whether or not the sons of God were angels or men.
We must understand that the spirit world is not less real than the physical world. The unseen things from the spirit world created the visible things of the physical world (see 2 Corinthians 4:18, Hebrews 11:3) That angels can operate in both the spirit and physical worlds is proved by Genesis 18-19, 22:11, Numbers 22:22-35, Judges 13:3-7, 2 Samuel 24:16-17, 2 Kings 19:35, Acts 1:10-11, John 20:12, and Hebrews 13:2.
How exactly the angels materialized the organs to create a child is unknown, but not totally inconceivable considering that every time angels were seen they had the physical parts of a man.
The marrying of the angels and the women happened twice; once before the flood as seen in Genesis 6:2, and once after the flood in Genesis 6:4. That explains why there were giants produced after the flood. Not because Noah's sons were from the line of Seth.
If Seth had a godly line called the sons of God, then why was Noah found to be the only righteous (Genesis 7:1)? Seth did not have a remaining godly line. Obviously the belief that the "sons of God" were Seth's children is false.
What happened to the angels that married the women? Let's look at Scriptures showing us the judgment against them.
2 Peter 2:4
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment
Jude 6-7
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgement of the great day.
7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
We see here that the angels that sinned left their place in heaven. They did just like Sodom and Gomorrha, in the fact that they gave themselves over to "strange flesh." It truly is strange for man to go for man, woman to go for woman, and angel to go for woman.
God has reserved these fornicating spirits in everlasting chains to wait until judgment. They are examples of the suffering of eternal fire.
29. Job 1:21 proves reincarnation.
This is a lie! The first thing we must note about Job 1:21 is that it is Job speaking, not God. Secondly, Job's ignorance does not make doctrine! With this in mind let's look at the verse in question:
Job 1:21
21 And [Job] said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
This verse is not telling us that once we die we will be reincarnated a go back into the womb to be born all over again. He is just saying that he came here with nothing, and he will not be able to take anything with him.
30. All men are born sinners because of Adam's sin and have a sin nature from birth.
This is simply the false doctrine of original sin. The Bible never teaches that Adam's sin passes down upon all men, that the judgment and damnation for his sin is passed down upon all men, that all men are born depraved and damned, etc. These are all false doctrines of men and devils and have no origin in the Bible. The main verse in the Bible dealing with how each man is formed is in Ecclesiastes.
Ecclesiastes 7:29
29 Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.
The Scriptures used to "prove" the original sin false doctrine (Job 14:4; Psalms 51:5; 58:3; Romans 5:12-21; Ephesians 2:3) are alway ripped from their context and have nothing to do with the true state of each and every individual birthed since Adam. For more study on this please see my article on original sin.
31. After one has been married and divorced they are free to remarry.
The Bible never teaches any such thing, and yet people love to blame Jesus, Paul, and God for this false doctrine and utterly damnable heresy. Let us look real quickly at a few verses and do a quick study of them (they are all simple and straight to the point):
These Scriptures teach us plainly that any remarriage after divorcing or being divorced from a legitimate marriage (i.e. a woman who has never been married and a man who has never been married becoming one flesh through the marriage covenant) is adultery. Even a person who has never been married before would be committing adultery in marrying a divorced person. This is all because the marriage covenant is for life and marrying a divorced person is simply committing adultery with another person's spouse. The only way to be loosed from the marriage bond is by the death of one of the people in the marriage covenant (Matthew 19:4-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 7:2-3; 1 Corinthians 7:39).Matthew 5:32
32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Matthew 19:9
9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Mark 10:11-12
11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her.
12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
Luke 16:18
18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
